Your Rooted trial guide

Everything you need for your first lesson. It takes about five minutes to read.

Get started

  1. 1 Go to the trial On the classroom computer, open alreadyed.com and press Trial login.
  2. 2 Enter the password It is in your welcome email. Bookmark the page so you can come straight back.
  3. 3 Choose Teach Pick a year group (P5, P6 or P7), then tap a base such as spec or rupt.
  4. 4 Press start Work through the six lesson screens with your class at your own pace.
Rooted is made for the classroom board. Go full screen for the biggest words: press F11 on Windows, or Ctrl + Cmd + F on a Mac.

How Rooted works. A good place to start before your first lesson.

A Teach lesson

Each base opens on its own card: meaning, free or bound, then word family. Press start and the six lesson screens appear in the bar at the top. Work left to right, or jump to any screen.

Spelling The word on its own, big. Use phonics and syllables to break it up.

Definition What it means, a sentence, and words with similar and opposite meanings.

Word History Press reveal and Proff tells the story of the base, along a timeline.

Build It See how the word is made from its parts, and open the word matrix.

Use It The word in a real sentence, with its word class and other endings.

Review Questions that bring the base, prefixes, suffixes and history together.

The control panel

The buttons down the side of the board change from screen to screen, but each one always keeps its own colour.

Standing on the other side of the board? Press swap to move the panel across.

Your data

Rooted is a teacher tool. It stores no pupil data. It only keeps staff details and your teaching progress.
