One base, six screens

Every lesson follows the same routine, from the first sounds of a word to its whole family. Your class learns the routine, so the focus stays on the words.

Spelling screen: include split into its sounds, with a dot under each sound and an arc joining the split digraph u–e
1Spelling Break the word into its sounds one tap at a time, then into syllables.
Definition screen: include means to have something as part of a bigger group or whole, with an example sentence about a maths number line
2Definition A clear meaning, then an example sentence with the word highlighted.
Word History screen: Proff explains that clud comes from Latin, the language of Ancient Rome, above a timeline
3Word History Proff tells the story of each base: where it came from, and when.
Build It screen: include split into the prefix in (into) and the base clude (close) as jigsaw tiles, with its meaning
4Build It Drag each part into place, then reveal what it means: in = into, clude = close.
Word matrix: in, clus and ive joined to make inclusive, an adjective meaning welcoming to everyone
5Word matrix Join prefixes, bases and suffixes to find every word in the family.
Review screen: a map with clud at the centre, linked to its word history, base, prefixes and suffixes and their meanings
6Review A map of the base, its prefixes, suffixes and history, built up question by question.
